Wanted to get some opinions on these offers, both are similar as far as work: Yahoo - first year 300k TC there after 278k TC IC5 242k Base + 15% perf bonus + 22k signing bonus Atlassian - 300k TC P50 196k Base + 75k RSUs + 15% perf bonus I'm trying to prioritize WLB to some degree and need to consider the benefits and such as well (e.g. 401k, Maternity Leave, and etc). current TC: 0 #atlassian #yahoo #seniorengineer #tech
Atlassian has great maternity benefits. I think good wlb too. Never worked there. More from hearsay
Forgot too add the sign on at yahoo
Yahoo is where careers go to die. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. If it’s even close for you go with Atlassian. Much better on resume and for your future. If you don’t care about your career and just want wlb then maybe come here - you can get away with doing very little like I see many people doing.
Is it because of a lot of old timers who are afraid of change? I'm curious about this. Could you speak to some of the benefits?
Comp is below market but decent. The strategy and execs are stale and people play pretend to “hold on”. This allows many savvy folks to do very little while earning decent pay. Wlb can be solid and if you are politically savvy you can even advance while doing little. As someone trying to leave I can tell you the brand is terrible if you are trying to get a job at a top tech company. We are owned by private equity and there are constant layoffs that seem pretty random - future is very uncertain as they will likely want some kind of exit after they bleed it dry. I had a friend join and turn down another offer just to get laid off six months later and he is now struggling in a tough market. If you don’t care about your career trajectory and are looking for the easiest remote gig with decent pay then consider. Otherwise AVOID. I wish I never joined. I turned down an offer at a better company because yahoo offered more salary. Big mistake which I am constantly regretting. I’ve been looking for many months, am not growing and feel my career is derailed. Suggesting you don’t make my mistake. I’d love to go to Atlassian. Good luck.
Yahoo to coat, Atlassian to be always busy
Does Atlassian do yearly refreshers? If yes it could be worth more long term
How much are refreshers per level
Recruiter did not say just mentioned it was possible. I guess that could be complete bullshit. Have any Atlassian folks recently gotten refreshers?
I’ve gotten refreshers (as has every member of my team) every year. No promises that things won’t change in the future, but for now it’s a given (if you meet role expectations)
Yoe?

Atlassian just had layoffs
When? 2023? I think they both had layoffs in 2023
They had another smaller round. 2024 new grads and their customer success division
OP I'm surprised how close the poll is. when I first read this I thought Atlassian would edge out by a large margin. Makes me want to look into yahoo as well.
i'm a little torn here tbh

Is Yahoo still a thing?
I think so? Went private in 2017 though
