I am trying to understand what is ec2. can someone dumb it down for me in simple explanation?
What do you want to know?
ec2 = servers in the cloud with whatever (to a degree) operating system you want running on it. Once you have an ec2 “instance” (essentially a virtualized server), you can run whatever software (built for the operating system) on it. You can serve websites with it, make it an API server, etc.
EC2 = Elastic Compute Cloud. AWS's service for running a VM/compute node in AWS. Thats about as simple as term it gets.
Virtual Server
It’s just a fucking computer. That’s it. You’re renting a computer. You select the operating system and specs (processor, RAM, etc.). You can do shit like install software on it, save files, etc. Don’t let this stupid fucking buzzword talk confuse you
How is EC2 a buzzword? Its the name of the service.
He asked for a simple explanation. Explaining it away using phrases like “virtualized instances” or “compute nodes” or more acronyms like “VM” isn’t making it simple. If he can’t understand the AWS definition of it, then he probably isn’t used to that vague buzzwordiness that we’ve all gotten used to. You need to go one level higher and break it down.
An AWS server. Run all your containers, pods, services on it. Run your webpages on it. Replaces your bare metal racks in your dusty storage room. Allows you to have a data center you don't need to physically touch. Try one out.
Thank you for all the explanation. I am in non tech that ec2 sounds like a bad word.
What is bad in “EC2” as a word?
So ec2 has variable capacity as a cloud server? If my business will grow or to be nothing, ec2 can be a good answer? If disney plus was on ec2, they would not have slow down issue during its initial launching?
EC2 is part of AWS cloud platform. Netflix uses and runs on AWS.
Well, it is more complicated than that.
I know my questions are super dumb, but dude, sup my man bro? Bro needs simple turd ma man~ one hunnit?
Nah, everyone needs to start somewhere. But your question wasn’t clear enough 🤔
What is your background?
