Looking to move to the bay area Sept mid and most of the 1 bed apartments I see are in the range of $3000 - $4000. Is this normal or its expensive? Checked prometheus, avalon, greystar, irvine company. Would it go down if I push the move to Oct - Nov? Pls recommend.
Its overpriced. Yes you may be able to find them cheaper if you sign around november / winter months
Bay Area is huge. Not expensive for SF. Super Expensive for Hayward. Since you say Irvine company, I assume stuff like North Park in north San Jose. The list prices are expensive. They have to be because California law prevents massive rent increases for big apartments. Also, those places always have expensive list prices ( that are sometimes sweetened with a free month of rent or so ). Look on craigslist or smaller, non corporate-run apartment buildings as they are cheaper
Any resource other than Craigslist that might help find such apartments?
Can only speak to COVID time rent, where I found a 1BD for $2500 around October and moved in November… but ofc it got bumped up to $2800 for like 800~sqft after COVID started getting better. It’s not in the city but in east bay.
They’ve been around 3000 for years

Job market is brutal for SWEs 🥲
Rents usually go down from October. Even I am counting and waiting on that.
Couple hundred bucks atleast. But who knows housing and renting market is completely out of whack these days.
I am looking for something with 750-800 Sq feet with rent around 3000 max.
