Got an offer at Wealthsimple for a Senior Developer position (remote in Canada so all values are in CAD). Offer: 158k Salary 3.0% RRSP contribution, 1.5% + RRSP match 13731 options over 4 years (valued at ~$53k net at current value) Current TC: 105k salary 20% Bonus YOE - 7 (all of it is on a different tech stack) To be honest, this is where I was expecting to negotiate up to. I have a couple of other offers that I could probably leverage up based on this offer, but I doubt they'd be able to come up this high.
What’s the options like? Are they gonna IPO?
Probably not anytime soon but probably within the vesting period. At current evaluation, they'd net ~13k a year when they are exercised. The recruiter kept bringing it back to an evaluation that was at 3.5x the current which would bring the value closer to 93k annually but the real number could be anywhere.
How is 13k becoming 93k with the 3.5X multiplier?
53k sounds pretty low considering your base salary. I hope they get you good refreshers
How long did it take you to get your offer? It's been exactly 1 week since I did the culture fit interview with Wealthsimple and haven't heard back from them. The recruiter said they would be debriefing this week. I don't have a good feeling about this if it's taking them this long to follow-up. Sigh.
It was about a week. I messaged the recruiter and he said it was taking a while to get the offer together, just because of approvals and peoples travel.
Got it. Thanks so much for the insight. It's super stressful and I have so much anxiety waiting for a potential offer.
Lmao. I spoke to a Wealthsimple recruiter a while ago and she said "we pay _really_ well" and then ghosted me. This is straight up below average for 7 yoe.
