Not necessarily companies, but industries. Mine are defense contracting, health insurance, and the fossil fuel industry. I couldn’t sleep at night if I worked for them.
Defense, Oil & Gas, most PR firms
Luckily those are all industries that pay pretty poorly so I doubt I would ever run into a moral quandary there
What's PR?
Might as well throw in the chemtrail and flat earth industry while you’re at it
Is not an industry.
Basically an industry with all the acquisitions, no real competitors that you don’t aggressively copy or buy up
Tabbaco. Vapping. Big pharma (they seem to do more harm than good most of the times)
Also politics
Did you get a COVID-19 vaccine, and if yes, what type?
Tiktok, Facebook, Robinhood, major HFTs and hedge funds who are market makers
Lol, how is Snapchat different from TikTok, Facebook,... You clearly missed yesterday's hearing.
TikTok sanctioned by the CCP. Wouldn’t work for any Chinese company tbh, you can’t be in China without doing dubious things
Anyone who insists on LC
I used to think this way then tripled my TC by grinding LC. Now I love LC.
All Hail LeetCode
Question for folks responding: Do you use the products or services of the companies you will not work for? If you do.... then what's your reasoning? I ask not to point fingers but I'm often conflicted myself.
I don't. I use Amazon to search for products or find vendors. I've declined interviewing there as well. I don't like Facebook, but I do use it and I would work there as well. I avoid Walmart all together
Relying on the services (or even choosing to use the services) of industries you don't agree with is pretty much inescapable in a modern society. But making a living from them is a bridge too far for many.
Gambling, tobacco, and weed
This is a lol post, morals change with personal choices.
Morals change when people see the TC on the offer letter
Minus social media, I don't see any industries posted here that pay more than tech
