Should I quit SAP as Sr. PM after 7 years?

In a weird situation. Gona move to the US from Germany in the next 3 months. At first I tried to get a transfer from SAP to US but didn’t work as hoped because of all the firing and early “retirement” going on. Would it be a good idea to just resign from SAP Germany, move to the US and then look for PM jobs in the US on my own? I mean sounds simple right? BUt isn’t finding a reasonable job in the US hard? Need some advice. Or should I really grind to find a SAP US position? About. Senior PM at SAP dealing with cool buzz like AI. SAP iS4H🇩🇪 OP Mar 30

Yes. More or less it is the TC jn Germany for T3. Check Google Germany salaries. Similar. You don’t have same expenses here as compared to Germany

PM market in US is awful but you’ve lot of experience to land something. And probably market will pick up a little in few months

Microsoft WhiskySour Mar 30

EAD is 3-5 months. OP current waiting time is almost 9+ months. Also, are you sure you can get EAD on J2 ?

SAP iS4H🇩🇪 OP Mar 31

I checked yes J2 has EAD possible. Can you please rewrite what is the waiting time you are talking about for 9+ months?

Job market is tough, unless you have a good reason, if not please don't make reckless move.

If moving for $ and work only then, no. If moving for other reasons (personal) that’s a different eq altogether. As to comp - worked both places. Yes take home pay is higher in US however, benefits and work/life balance, societal norms, protections are MUCH, much better in EU - and if you put a ‘price’ on these things life on your side of the pond is much better. I’d move back to Europe in a nanosecond if I could.

PM market is very tough in US. Very often you see firing targeted at the PMs. If you are moving not just for $, then you have a reason to accept this risk and move.
