Capital One is pressuring me to accept their offer by tomorrow, but I just finished my onsites with Bloomberg, and another company. Would C1 blacklist me if I accept their offer, and renege it a few days after? Also, should I inform other companies about signing C1 offer? Update: Managed to convince C1 to hold until end of day, and got a verbal offer from Bloomberg before end of day. Thanks for the replies. TC: 🥜 YOE: 3 #capitalone #bloomberg
Ask capital one for an extension. Do you have a good sense you’ll get an offer from the others?
Asked for extension, they seem to be really intent on making me decide tomorrow though. Bloomberg recruiter said that my feedback looks good, but they're expecting to have a decision on Friday.
Also push Bloomberg and tell them you are about to accept another offer tomorrow
I wouldn’t renege. That would black list you likely from c1 and it would hurt your reputation if it got around. You can be open about the interview and offers though, that’s fair, would speed things up and lead to better offers Also had the same thing happen to me with C1 and caved and it was a horrible decision. They aggressively pressured me to sign during senior year of college and I caved because I didn’t want to lose it and was told there was a limited number of spots from Sf. Found out later that they doubled the number of spots, but didn’t have roles open so they gave roles to those who signed later because they had counter offers they could negotiate with. Me and the 7 who signed quickly all got fucked and abandoned, we mostly left within a year. Was horrible, recruiting is very unethical with C1
Should I reject C1 then? I don't see the point of ever applying there if I get into a good company, just concerned about reneging affecting my other applications at different companies.
My experience was horrific and I wouldn’t advice it, but it’s very branch specific. The headquarters in dc is supposedly okay, Chicago isn’t great but solid work life balance, SF is a disaster(at one point the head of that location was called the mad kind). Economy isn’t great so I would try to hold out, it’s horrible there but you can coast for awhile. Id just stay firm and say something akin to “Look, I appreciate you want a decision but I would like to make an informed decision. Even if this is the right one rushing me will just make me second guess my decision down the line. I have interviewed elsewhere and will keep you up to date. I expect to hear back and be able to make a decision within 2 weeks. I’ll reach out to the others to let you know”. You can’t stall forever but that should help. What location?
no idea about reneging but what i can say is that capital one has a top tier work life balance
I'm expecting Bloomberg offer to be substantially higher though.
yeah might be. depends on what’s important to you. if you highly value wlb and good culture then c1 is great. otherwise go elsewhere
TC ?🤦♂️
Care to share your prep to get the Bloomberg offer?
You’re literally missing out on nothing at all if you have to renege on Capital One. They suck. http://desudesudesu.io/
I’d only renege if you’re prepared to be blacklisted. They will note it in their recruiting system. I definitely wouldn’t inform the other company that you’ve signed another offer. That’s shady af, and makes them wonder if you’d renege on them if a better offer comes up.
Spot on.
Would reneging the offer be noted even if it's done a day or two after accepting? i.e. before background check, etc. Also, would it affect my Bloomberg offer?
