What do you think has better resume brand value, job security in the event of a recession, and overall place to be as pm? I’ve been at meta less than a year, but DD recruiter reached out and wants to move me forward. The roles seem interesting, more so than what I’m working on now. The pay would probably be higher than my current tc because of the beating my meta stock has taken, not to mention I came in near bottom of band in the first place due to no competing offers. But I worry that in a recession/as Covid recedes, people might pull back on discretionary spending on expensive food delivery, and my ass could be grass if dd has to start layoffs. Tc 278 after stock drop, offer amount 305. L5 pm. 4 yoe pm, 10 yoe total. #pm #product #productmanager

Referral to Meta please 🥺🙏🏿
Lol switching for a 30k bump
Only 305 offer as L5?
Yeah, no competing offers and average interview performance. And was after negotiation.
You should have presented some numbers at least for counter, that would have netted you another $100k at least. See the latest thread on blind about offer negotiation.
DoorDash is also either on hiring freeze for level 4 and under and in my case they rescinded verbal offer citing position freeze
Dang, did they say this over the phone? Or via email?
Over the phone. But the hiring manager was kind enough to talk and apologize
DoorDash, everyone is getting into or has been at meta. At least DoorDash is unique.
Meta
What don’t you like about DD?
Ah I see. But DD pays top dollar so I imagine prestige wise they’re up there with meta? Idk, I have noticed a lot more recruiter reachouts ever since I left Amazon and joined meta. So maybe you’re right.
If you want to own a small piece of meta apps and keep making incremental progress, go for Meta but if you want to explore the ocean of possibilities and get excited with larger impact, come to DoorDash.
I can totally see that. There’s so much more opportunity to have bigger scope at a smaller company than a huge one where you own a tiny piece of a big thing. What are your thoughts on DD’s business durability in the event of a downturn and people cut back on such discretionary purchases?
Surprisingly, DD is one of the most budget focused company - that’s a good sign - and the way I see it is, we sell food and other services that are essential to anyone. If not restaurant delivery, we have pick up options. We sell groceries too. If people have to cut expenses, they will not cut back on food(atleast not on groceries).
Wtf is a doordash?
Yup that’s right. We are a bunch of under dogs, trying to find our way!
Actually wtf is a meta?
OP, what did you decide?
On sites next week
Datadog
I think OP meant DoorDash
Oh yeah, updated title for clarity
