I notice Customer Engineer positions in the Google Cloud org all over the country. Some positions are remote. What are these roles and how much do they pay? I’m wondering if it makes sense to pursue one of these roles to live in a lower cost of living location.
You work at Google and you are asking here what a Google Customer Engineer is? Couldn’t you ask internally?
People typically don’t like to share salaries, which is why I ask here. Also wondering if external applicants got offers and have insight.
You work with customers and engineer solutions for them. You have to have technical skills. Mostly debugging, sometimes coding, people’s skills, comfortable presenting to a crowd, replicating bugs
I would Pursue them. Glassdoor shows you the avg pay. It seems to be at least over 100k.
Recently got customer engineer offer for denver location 210K TC.rejecting it because of better offer from AWS. To answer your question customer engineer help customers to migrate their workloads to cloud
What level was the offer? Google always lowballs their first offer. Use that AWS offer to negotiate a higher TC. If you interviewed well, they will match/beat it.
Yes did that they just tried to match it and pay sign on bonus of 20 K for year 1 . Google salary has 42.5 percent bonus which is target bonus. You might get it in full only based on quota met.
What’s customer engineer? Is everyone to be called an engineer these days?
