What's the base pay?
$140000
That's so good compared to my 🥜 TC... Do they ask LC easy/medium and system design?
This really comes down to money. It would be cool if asurion would give you more money. Are you currently a SE3? Just curious because of the 140 base. I’ve also been here the same amount of time.
Your work life balance at Amazon will depend on the actual team you join in. Feel free to DM the org if you want. I am not sure I understand what you mean about no bonus. RSUs are paid based on bonus. You will get additional RSU refreshers but they will vest over 2y. The manager and IC tracks at amazon are separate. So I an not sure of what you meant when you say IC vs a lead position. I think the main question is why did you interview? What are you looking for?
I am seeking an opportunity to learn and also I believe Amazon tag on resume will open up new avenues. What you feel being in the organization? Also is the package they offered is competitive ? Or you feel otherwise
I would negotiate as much as you can for higher comp now. Once you are in there is little to no negotiation of the comp you have. This is one of the reasons why I am considering leaving as I am severely underpaid. The longer you stay here the less it seems they look to correct you. You are right that the name will open doors later but I find that every company is open to talk nowadays. It is more about how many pre screenings you will have to do. However Amazon has a scale that not a lot of companies have so you will get to see how they do software at scale and lots of best practices. The downside is how slow things can move. We are in a space very microservice heavy where you may not own any of the data you work with. So if you need something from another tem, it can add weeks worth of effort to your timelines. So at some level the complexity is not that the project is hard to do but rather than it is a lot of work to bring all these teams onboard. I think that overall it can be a good experience but it is really up to what you were looking to do with your career. If you want to learn and grow technically it is a good place. If you wanted to build and get stuff out the door, I actually find that we dont build as fast.

Would you retire?
Move to Amazon, learn and earn for couple of years, and then move somewhere else.
