BA offer from zulily

Updated 2: thanks everyone’s kindly reply and suggestions. I decided to take the offer from zulily. I am still negotiating the base salary with hr, hopefully I can get it higher. But I think it will be a good start for me to transfer out from healthcare industry. Updated: get reject from amazon business analyst, said there were not enough complexity in my projects and experience, they suggest I try again after one or two year. ——————————————— Hi everyone. First time post like this. I Just received an offer from zulily, not SDE, BA position. base 85k, sign on 10k, no stock. My current base is 78k, no sign on no stock. So on salary wise. Not a big improvement. But I am looking for a job that can offer more of career growth, varieties of duty such as forecasting and modeling( which my current job can not offer, I work in the same company same position for 4+ year, and I am too comfortable in my current position... Can anyone provide any experience or feedback on zulily? Everyone I chatted over interviewers all really nice. But I just a little afraid by the low rating from Glassdoor. I am also waiting for amazon and Microsoft, but I am afraid I did not do very well with amazon interview. And I haven’t heard back from Microsoft for weeks. Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thank you all! #Zulily #Business analyst #offer #dataanalytics #data #datascience

If you feel like this will be your big break take it Also , ask yourself do you want to work with e-commerce data if not then don’t take it because you’ll end back up here in 4 months asking the same thing with a different company The offer is a tad bit low tbh and I would try and negotiate on the base to like 85k Hopefully they’ll understand since it’s so close to your current base

Thank you so much for your comment, I never work with e-commerce data before, I am in healthcare business, but I do want to transit it into e-commerce since it is a very popular business. I think I just a bit afraid the transition or working for a new company. I been in my current company for 4+ years and too comfortable. But I want to push myself and make a better growth in my career path.

Sounds like you have a plan. A lot of people are afraid of making that career switch but once you RSUs your first step then the next ones won’t seem so big

How did you get MSFT interview? I’ve been trying to get an initial screen and even that is like pulling teeth. I swear I’m gonna apply at the Microsoft store next

IMS Health xzccc OP Apr 13, 2021

Yes, I only got the first round video screen. I understand the struggle. I must applied at least 50 job opening to just get one interview.

I think I’m approaching the 50th then, so hopefully mine is coming soon! :D

I haven’t read the Glassdoor’s, but unless there are any huge dealbreakers, (i.e WLB is top priority for you but they specifically state WLB is shit), I would just take it. I will say that changing industries is hard and the longer you stay in one, it’ll be more difficult to get out. Plus, your not losing out on salary, and I’m sure you first 3 months of honeymoon will be super fun, so sounds like a good move

Thanks, I am still think about it, my friends recommended I waited until heard back from Microsoft and amazon then make a decision

Zulily is a "Tech company" can open door for better opportunities

Ralph Lauren uLiV15 Apr 13, 2021

Take it to build your experience. You clearly aren’t happy with your current capabilities. TC can be negotiated but different experience that will help your tech skills is much more worth it

Google weezie Apr 13, 2021

I’ve known people who worked there and I think you’re correct to be concerned about the Glassdoor rating. I’ve heard terrible things about them. And in my opinion you should aim for a MUCH higher jump in TC. You can only switch jobs so many times so try to maximize your TC offer at each change. You can do better.

IMS Health xzccc OP Apr 13, 2021

That is what concern me. It will be a big transition for me and I am afraid what if I can not keep up with it then end up get pip or fire

Google weezie Apr 13, 2021

Did you have a good feeling about the people who interviewed you? Hopefully this will be an ideal opportunity for you to transition to something area that is new to you?

Leonardo DRS gasK32 Apr 13, 2021

Did you follow up with Microsoft?

IMS Health xzccc OP Apr 13, 2021

Yes, they said they will get back to me a week or two
