Hello there, I am located in austin and am looking at 2 offers for changing my job. Google is contract for 12 months at $54/hr full time, and crypto.com will be full time at ~$100k base plus benefits and stock/token options. Totally cool with going into office, but really am unsure which I should take— thoughts? #recruiting
Cheers— reasoning why?
Cheers. More upside. You’ll learn more in the crypto space. You already have FAANG on your resume, having Crypto.com on your resume is interesting. You don’t need to be contracting—only FTE opportunities should be considered at this stage of the game.
Current TC and YOE?
Google is not a good place to recruit. They don’t convert contractors regularly and they treat contract recruiters and even staff recruiters like peasants. Crypto.com you’ll have way more fun.
Oh I am more than aware of the difficulty of being converted at google, and 12 months of google on my resume is more than enough to get me into a lot of doors. Do you have firsthand experience regarding google recruitment? I am at amazon at the moment and know it’s a bit hectic here, and friends at google gush over it— some even migrated from Amazon.
We just hired a long time Google recruiter to my team at Amazon cause it’s so boring and low impact there. They loved how laid back it is but were not learning and bored. Google on your resume as a contact recruiter won’t open any doors that are not already open to you. Getting promo to L6 recruiter at amazon is career rocket fuel and you can write your own ticket after that. Similarly I bet you’ll learn more and b more challenged at crypto.com. Just my 2c but everyone prioritizes different things.
Neither. Get expedited and get more offers.
How so?
Which team in Google? HR for cloud/fitbit/XX
Triple C’s. Pay is $15k more than crypto so I’m leaning towards goog
I’ll pick the full-time role. Are you currently a contractor now at Amazon? At Google you will literally be just a “number” - eventually you will want to convert to FTE at Google, but it may not happen. Their conversion rate is super low Do you know how many people are trying to get out of contract recruiting at Google? A Full-Time role is a BLESSING!
Yep I’m a contractor at the moment. I like the idea of google being hybrid as I want to be in person some of the time as years of WFH are driving me nuts. Google is offering more for total comp…. I might just ride out google and try my options later— totally understand it is quite hard to go fte at google!
Totally understand your point of view. Follow your heart! Best of luck!
Take the real job—the FTE job is real.
Reading the comments, sounds like you made up your mind on Google long before posting
Take Google only if you have no expectation of converting. Saw many people (including myself) get burned by false promises of conversion there. Your experience could also shift quickly with a manager change as well.
I know it to be true that they don’t convert in 95% of cases but curious as to why you think this is?
Never ending supply of agency recruiters with 1-2 years of experience they can pay $40/hour on contract that will move across the country for the gig
Depends on what you want your future to look like. I think Crypto is the future, growing and prob have great investment vesting plus it's fulltime. Google is great because there could be a chance you could be full time but having that experience on your resume will most likely open doors too.
