Will there be layoffs in VMware software/cloud departments when the merger with Broadcom is successful? #vmware #broadcom #acquisition
Yes
If the deal goes through, it will be brutal for VMware. HR, IT, support will be wiped out. Deep cuts in engineering.
Engg - mostly managers, overhead and low value products. However, deepest cuts in HR, Finance, IT & Sales overhead functions.
Of course yes! Broadcom PMI is very sorted, they churn out the team very fast
What about training and development team? With it impact?
Will be partly impacted
They brush everything very quickly , no old carry ons
Based on VMWare’s revenue to employee ratio, at least half the total number of employees could be let go
They dont touch engineers. So engineering is pretty safe
They wont touch the profitable teams. Broadcom is extremely engineer oriented.
Broadcom ceo is extremely investor focused. He hates spending money on speculative bets/moonshot projects/non revenue products. So teams who have not generated any profits will be in trouble.
Vmware is shit, I expect deep cuts in non profit orgs. Worst mid managers works there
25k gone
Layoff? In Broadcom?
Vmware obviously
Yes... Lol
