There are events like Holi and Diwali. Goto local college (uw if Seattle) events and join the dance. You will have lots to choose from, they will be young and fun to move with. Consider taking an Indian guy with you to get a groove for these things - to know what is okay and what is not. After a few times, you will have enough confidence that you aren't doing anything socially awkward. Holi is typically the best. Easy to break the ice (especially for introvert engineers). If you are white, at least 5ft 10 and have a slight British accent you should be able to sweep a bevy of them. If you more the rural/small city type I'd recommend looking elsewhere or you not exactly going to find a good looking one.
Indian girls don't care for accent. British accent is more an American fantasy.
