is this reasonable? I get people can have preferences but coffee is special to me and she has it with all this sugary stuff on top. In my family we order green beans from all over the world and roast them at home to enjoy the different varieties, not to throw a ton of sugar in to mask the taste and make it go down easier. A lot of effort goes into it! My main gripe here is with people who say they like coffee, but only starbucks pumpkin lattes for example. Its not real coffee IMO. This is why I’m a little disappointed. If she did this in front of my parents (adding sugar and whipped cream to the coffee that my parents put effort into roasting) id be genuinely embarrassed. I would summarise my qualms with this as that I think coffee can already be enjoyed in so many ways a la latte / flat white / cappucino / espresso and so on, that once you start adding all this sugary stuff its no longer coffee and more like a caffeinated dessert, which is fine I guess but I dont believe that it is true coffee any more. 90, intern
Just buy some instant coffee to serve her when she visits
we arent American so drinking instant coffee is considered a mortal sin in this household
Genuinely curious - are you Italian?
Green beans, huh?
well not after they are roasted first crack is the way
Well you must make her submit to you and send her to a barista course ASAP. *Counterstrike sound* go go go
Submit? 💀 This channel on blind is not what I was expecting
Are you 22? Look I’m in the same boat as you - I don’t take any coffee or espresso with sweetener (or cream in the case of coffee but I do enjoy various hot milk and espresso combos) because I want my coffee to taste like coffee. But I wouldn’t care this much about my partner being a total peasant in regards to it. I hate saying this but like I was raised differently from American culture (European) and this was why I initially struggled to date Americans (not coffee things, just their relatively less sophisticated and cultured tastes (I sound like a snob sorry)). Then I realized it really didn’t matter and it wouldn’t keep me from enjoying things my way. In fact I think over time I’ve become a bit of an influence on my partners tastes 💅🏻
No, I’m 20. Adding milk is great, I agree :) Your upbringing sounds almost identical to mine actually so its very interesting to read your comment. I guess in the end you just realised americans are gonna american 😭
Tbf i am now with another European and it’s so much easier haha. There’s something about European sensibilities that is familiar to me but on the big things like values Americans can be just as compatible even if they have no taste 😭
Imagine giving a fuck.
Your tongue may have stockholm syndrome for dirt water but there's no reason to drag others down with you.
Your relationship won’t survive if you devote this much electricity bandwidth and brain cells to caring about coffee preferences
