Airbnb is in a pretty decent spot as a company. * Permanent remote with an office to go into if you want * Top compensation regardless of location * Business has a mixed effect on people but not net negative to the world * Strong business with decent growth opportunities Cons: Very slow career progression that'll only get worse Ex-Airfam, where did you go and what color is the grass given the above? TC: 550k #tech #airbnb #compensation #career
It’s absolutely a net negative to the world
More TC more shit
How many PTO days? Do you get Airbnb credits?
Last I checked the official PTO policy looked a little stingy.
3 weeks PTO, 1 week sick leave and the company is shut down from Dec 20 to Jan 2 and this doesn’t come off employee PTO. The usual extra day PTO after the long weekends (July 4, Thanksgiving Monday) are also nice. I usually take 3 1-week vacations a year and a mega vacation the last 2 weeks of December.
maybe you and I have different definitions on net negative on the world.
I wish Airbnb never existed. It has ducked rental market
What’s a reasonable offer from Airbnb for senior and staff infra roles?
Check levels for new offers, it's probably dropped a little recently.
I came to Airbnb from Amazon. I miss Amazon, if you can believe that.
What do you miss?
The talent, culture and money. At Airbnb, it feels like most are fake polite and often unhelpful. Sometimes it's like I'm the only one that wants to do good work and get things done, but I'm blocked by the general stagnation and decay around me. It's demotivating.
Maybe the grass isn't greener afterall with the silence
I just applied to a role there because the comp is nicer. Morale seems the same as here, but without the wild stock price swings. Didn’t realize Airbnb doesn’t give unlimited pto.
550 as l6?
Closer to 600 with the 25% bonus. Just got a bad hand of joining at ATH and going through re-orgs
