You are currently in India, right? So why are you converting your INR salary to USD(45k) and then comparing with the American salaries(300k,500k etc)?
This^
Does anyone in India make $500k USD equivalent? Honestly I’m a bit confused by Indian currency. The times I was there on business I just handed over my company credit card 🤷🏻♂️ It was my understanding though that swe’s in India made far less in dollars than those based in the US. Is that still correct?
It is obviously correct. It makes absolutely no sense to convert your INR salary to USD and then do comparisons like OP is doing due to the difference in the purchasing power. If OP is making 45k USD in India, then that is roughly 31LPA which is actually a good amount(maybe like 120k-150k USD in the US).
actually comparable to 200k in bay area
London? It’s a shit hole better to be avoided
Shithole is an understatement for London. Lel
Really? What's wrong with London? I am genuinely curious to know
Can you share your current YOE?
2 yoe
Your depression is totally uncalled for. At 2 yoe, I was directionless earning 3 LPA at a WITCH company. I studied in a Tier-3 college so had no other option but to join the WITCH company. At 12 yoe, I have now crossed 1.1 Cr after I gave my career some direction. I feel I can easily cross 1.7 Cr with my current skillset. Just keep working hard and the industry will reward you handsomely. No need to worry.
This isn’t LinkedIn
So many people saying they have 600k are lying. They make maybe 200k rest is paper money and they’re not including the 45-50% they’ll pay in taxes. Don’t believe the lies. #coronavirus
Op is stupid.
I can't work like you as a slave! NO OFFENSE!! Some come here to create there own empire, in the post I haven't mentioned what I'm going thru and what responsibilies I'm having! Fukc with 16 lpa I have cleared 50 lakh ki debt in 1 year, I know my calibar, just shared my views on my situation... Now see you lol...you seem so stupid!! How did you miss the simple quote, don't simply judge a book by it's cover!! Now go and drink milk and sleep my son before pointing some one else!! Pucker!
Go back to LinkedIn and post this cringe
Take courage, OP! Blind has a massive selection bias. I wouldn't bother too much about measuring your value by salary. Blind and any "comparison" social media will cause depression... It's the new "my d***k is bigger and my car is faster". most people here are liars. Most of my London friends who never heard of blind are making up to 60K base. Most of them are in the 45-55 range with 5 years experience. They areliving just fine... Not a luxurious life. This generation is so entitled and this techies think they are the best. I dont make 500k but my life is great. Lovely wife, house in Central London, great friends... Things most of these a**holes don't have. I'd only break the 100K base after 13 years of struggle... I was 27yo and making less than 45k in London. And life was great (although living in London is never great 🤣)
Thanks for your kind words:) slowly this is making some sense! Yeah there is so much hype going on in this blind! It would be really great if we can connect over a chat! I'm out of dm's, could you please dm me, Need some suggestions :)
Don’t live your life by others. I’ve historically had a lowish TC. The main contributing factor was my predilection to joining startups in search of that big payday. Didn’t work out great. I was with a few that got bought out but never as much as an ipo would have brought. I finally hit the large TC realm when I landed a gig at a hedge fund as a quant. That lasted only a few years. I didn’t like the environment and I hated the commute into NYC. The WLB was at on the work side. I was making lots of money but ultimately decided that I didn’t want to give up my life for the money. Joined a small startup for a few years and just took a job making a lot of money again at Netflix. Do note that I’m in my 50’s though. It took that long before I finally gave in and joined a faang type company. I’m married, have a bunch children who are all grown and a bunch of grandchildren. Have a nice house. I prioritized life over money. I have friends who went the other way. They’re worth tens of millions, spent their life in the office never watching their children play sports, missing birthdays, etc. That wasn’t the life I wanted to live. Ultimately you need to choose the type of life you want and weight the sacrifices necessary and come op with the target you wish to achieve. Aim for that target. If you reach it then know that you don’t need to be jealous of someone else because they had a different target and different set of priorities. You choose the life you wanted to live.
You sound very insecure and entitled
