What perks at Google are really good to have? What perks are rarely used? Do people really use laundry, massage, haircut etc perks? Basically I would like to get the general sentiment around perks at Google. Please share your views. Thanks.
A fully stocked gym is great to have.
Does it have all the basic machines and weights?
I am sure they have most machines. But machines are pretty useless anyway.
Hi I'm looking to join a company with excellent bathrooms. How are Google bathrooms? Toilet paper quality? Janitor friendliness?
Japanese toilets in some buildings 💯
Can confirm, bidet toilet seats are awesome
Haircut is not a perk, $30 for a $10 haircut. $9K 401K matching is the best perk. 2-day fun trips (Ski, etc..) are also awesome. Internal trainings, talks, tution grant is a great learning growth perk.
What are 2-day fun trips? Team outings?
Yes, usually mutiple teams together once a year.
Food, fresh juices. Micro kitchen are soso but I don't imagine working for a company which doesn't have warm meals.
It's the food. The food is mostly excellent quality, free, and abundant. Tons of choices, too. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner if you stay late. The coffee hubs with baristas are also awesome. (I'm based in Sunnyvale) The peer bonuses are really fun-that you can just give them to people at any time. The onsite massages are life changing. They are also half price compared to market rate. I also use the museum passes and Exploratorium passes every now and then. The free phone with unlimited data, complete with roaming ability all over the world, even when I'm on vacation is also amazing.
Free phone for every googler?
Yes, indeed
How is the tuition reimbursement? say I want to do a part time MBA or take courses at Stanford? I am joining as SWE
2/3rds of work-related education is reimbursed, 1/3 if non-work-related like if you want to take art classes. Up to $12000 per year reimbursed.
perks don’t really matter. the real perk is world class devs and work and tooling. almost every bay company has similar perks
How is this an HR issue
Marking it as "HR issue" hides OP's current company.
