To preface: I've been trying to get an interview with WarnerMedia or one of its companies here in Atlanta for several months now. I'm a Graphic Designer, so roles I qualify for aren't common, although they do occasionally get posted. I've chatted with one designer who works (or rather worked) for one of their companies in the area, as well as a few contacts I've made on Blind to try and make myself more appealing as a candidate. I've had one contact do internal referrals for a few roles, but it hasn't gotten me in front of a hiring manager (One of my most recent applications has been sitting in "Under Review" in their ATS since late May). There are a lot of potential factors as to why that's the case, including positions being filled internally, but I'm not really in the mood to speculate. I've spent a lot of time getting input on my resume and portfolio and refining both accordingly, and though they *may* be a component that's not what I'm currently looking at due to my last few reviews of them. My local contact recently left their job at a local WM company to take a position with another company altogether – meaning their job will need to be filled but hasn't been posted to the careers site yet. I can potentially get another internal referral when it posts, although my local contact can't do it because they're no longer a WM employee. However, internal referrals aren't really getting me anywhere. So attempting another one when this role goes live on the careers page seems futile. Can anyone offer me any insight into the hiring process? While I have some contacts, none of them currently work directly with the teams I'm applying to work with, so I don't have a straightforward connection for the roles in question. Is there something I'm missing here, or any information that might shed some light on my inability to land an interview with them? #referral #hiring #jobhunt
It's likely that they are also trying to hire more from big cities like NYC/LA/SF/Seattle. It's a huge company so I don't know what's going on in other business arms but I can refer to help if you need.
Honestly, I'll take all the help I can get. Do you want me to DM you?
Referrals aren’t going to work right now since we’re migrating ATS according to my manager, best bet is to reach out to a recruiter working warnermedia design roles. My manager referred someone and no one reached out until he put them in front of a recruiter.
I unfortunately don't know any recruiters in my area personally. And I feel a certain way about just reaching out to ask about jobs.
They have big hiring backlogs and issues. Best bet is talking to an internal recruiter directly but it depends on which ones can actually do anything.
I've looked up some of their recruiters here in Atlanta. I'm going through them one at a time to avoid looking desperate, but I'm waiting to see if the first one I reached out to responds.
OP you need to target the design group for the CNN+ app, and they won't be hiring seniors. They are mainly targeting tier 1 experience and the TC is there to match
Do you know if they're hiring in the Atlanta area?
I work for WarnerMedia and have applied to jobs in other departments through our internal systems, and even then have not heard anything, so I have a feeling there’s something going on with their process…
They recently disabled their old ATS to launch a new one that appears to be integrated with their public-facing careers site. I don't know it it'll work better, but I'm not optimistic. I wouldn't have known this, had I not reached out to a recruiter for WM earlier this week. Their response was that they couldn't help me and that I should just apply through the *new* career site. Which given that it's a known fact their career site doesn't get anyone anywhere, I took that as them telling me to go f*** myself 🙄 I'm getting a strong impression that I'm just not the type of person any of these big companies want to hire.
Did you get an interview in the end? I applied a marketing job 1.5 months ago, and it still sits in "Under Review"
Everything is up in the air after the Discovery announcement. I don’t know if they are even hiring at this point. I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you.
Lovely. Thank you for your callous honesty.
