I thought Hulu should be tier 2 brand company since we are united with Disney Streaming and can compete against Netflix/amazon video/HBO. But when plan to change my job, and apply online, I can get only about 20% response. I wander if it’s the market’s problem or Hulu’s problem. What do yo think about Hulu’s brand ? 250k 4 yoe #engineering #software #swe
It's name ends with ulu, it's an uphill battle
It’s Huli, not Hulu.
Hulu has a lot of great partnerships and content, but ffs their pay isn’t great. Really only a bit better than media & entertainment jobs and not on par with big tech or SF based companies. Seems like they focus more on media buying and partnering vs engineering a good product to use. Content is king, but goddammit their UI sucks.
Market problem. No need to over think it. I worked at MessageBird and got calls from every FAANG except Apple and Netflix along with Uber as well surely you can as well with Hulu. It doesn’t really matter, maybe you just need to improve your resume formatting, wording, structure, etc.
You thought Disney Streaming elevated your brand? No way. Hulu was a real tech company. Disney is not a tech company.
Was is the key word there
I no longer work for Hulu and for context my TC is 500k now with 8 yoe. I never had to to apply anywhere and I wouldn’t attribute lack of response to the tier of Hulu , lots of ex Hulu folks are in FAANG and other top tech companies. Couple of months back when I was in the job market I was approached by recruiters of most of the top 30 tech companies without placing a single application in their system by myself . Use LinkedIn intelligently, online application system is broken. At this moment market might be down , so be patient, it will work out.
What was your TC at Hulu ?
It's not a great market for switching jobs. You're overthinking it.
20% isn’t bad, i got 0 responses lol
