Currently: SDE-2 at Zeta with 5 YOE and compensation around 35L Base + 16L stock (spread across 4 years 10, 20, 30, 40%) = roughly 39L TC I have two offers, both full REMOTE - 1. Coinbase (IC4 India): Base 46 lpa + 5% Guarenteed bonus ~ roughly 2.3L + stock component 27,500 USD per year ~ 22.5L + Work from home benefit ~ 4.26L per year = Total ~ 75 LPA 2. GP (Globalization Partners - Senior Software Engineer): Base 47 lpa + 15% min Guarenteed Variable ~ roughly 7L + 25 lakhs per 5 years cash component tied to stock (spread equally - it could go up but not down, so 5L per year is minimum) = Total: ~ 59 LPA GP might not be very well known but my friend is working there, not a startup it's been there for > 10 years now, but R&D was only in the US & UK. The work and work life balance are both good - They're building a team in India and writing a lot of stuff from scratch, so a lot to learn. I've talked to some Coinbase employees and the reviews everywhere are quite negative - both work and work life balance wise. Even though money wise it's a considerable difference (16L), I'm kind of worried about a company based almost entirely on crypto - an industry with a lot of volatality and uncertainty - And also a large part of the component is tied to their stock (22.5L). I'm mostly looking toward good pay without sacrificing too much work life balance. Is #Coinbase really as bad as the reviews say? I saw many people dubbing it as Amazon of crypto (I've worked in Amazon before and it wasn't a memorable experience) And One of the Coinbase employees even told me that he's ready to take 20% or so cut to get out of Coinbase - so that's why I'm torn between the two. Coinbase team/product isn't finalized - Could be Platform or International teams. Please suggest. #tech #coinbase #gp #coinbaseIndia #Amazon #Google #Microsoft #Apple #Meta #OfferEvaluation #CompareOffers #Adobe #GoldmanSachs #Remote #SSE #IC4
Coinbase has quarterly pip quotas. You can guess the WLB and pressure :)
Pip is overrated. You only get PIPed if you are a total deadweight.
GP is easy pick
How was the interview? Lc ?
Not sure which company you mean but here’s an overview of both - Coinbase doesn’t really concentrate a lot on LC (directly) I’d say. A lot of object oriented LLD based, machine coding like questions. And GP’s questions were easy in first round. As the position is for Sr SDE there was a design round which encompassed LLD and HLD.
Hey, Can I dm you for interview experience?
Sure
Dm’ed you
Go for GP, 16L(10L post tax) not worth the stress and anxiety that it would bring.
Congratulations mate.
Thanks mate. How's work in your team. DM me.

Thank you AAPL and NVDA
People have short term memory it seems. Did you not see massacre which coin base caused hardly few months back ?
Totally agree. But I've checked with people, it mostly seems like the layoffs are kinda done. They claim they have corrected the overhiring and made sure it won't happen again. Keywords are "seems", "claim". So of course the risk is always there and the claims can't be trusted entirely. That's why the post, so that people give their insights.
Don’t go there not a good place. I have friends who were fired left and right and speaks highly against it. They might be biased but I don’t think it is a good decision to join such companies.
