Hi all, I passed onsite interviews at Oracle OCI and Audible. I would appreciate some advice and perspective. Oracle gave me an offer that looks like this: - IC3 - Base salary: 145k - Stock: 50k yr - Signing Bonus: 14k - Location remote / hybrid in Austin I tried asking for more RSU but I have received pushback and they said this is their final offer. For Audible, I have been in team matching phase for a month and recruiter said I should be hearing back from them by next week. No offer info yet, but location would be either NJ or LA. SDE 2. I am in no rush, but Oracle offer might expire as I’ve been pushing it off. I’ve been interviewing and prepping for a while. It’s a step up from where I’m at now but I don’t want to sell myself short. If you work at Oracle, is it worth it? If you’re at Audible, what’s the company state? Would love to hear people’s perspectives. Current TC: 128k YoE: 5 #tech #negotiation #softwareengineer #softwaredevelopersalary
OCI level?
IC3
Oracle over Audible, I've worked at both. But I also don't know if Audible would offer a lot more.
I appreciate your response! What are your pros and cons of working at both? Hopefully I hear from Audible soon to find out.
I think the biggest difference is Amazon is more organized than Oracle, so you can't slack as easily. But you learn a lot from working at Amazon whether you want it or not and it's more stressful. I got to work in a decent team at Amazon that was clearly not as bad as what I see on Blind, but Oracle is still more chill. Oracle Cloud is also safer from layoffs overall, so far. Oracle has laid off more from older businesses/acquisitions. But no guarantees for the future, of course.
That’s a weak offer from Oracle for 5YOE
I heard OCI is now low balling candidates. Ask for more base and RSU’s . There won’t be any hikes or much refreshers until you get promoted at oracle. Promo hike is also not that great. Usually 10-20%.
At Audible, climbing the corporate ladder will be hard. I feel like Audibles pretty stagnant and taking way too long to innovate.
How long did the Oracle written offer take to come after you got the verbal offer?
I got damn near the same offer as you for the same level and location. 146k base, 50k/yr RSU, 15k sign on. My recruiter told me this was basically the highest they’d go for IC3. For reference I have 4yoe. Took the offer. No complaints thus far and it seems decently competitive in terms of pay for Austin. Well known brand and can be a good stepping stone for a future job in Austin.
Could you please share your interview experience with Oracle OCI? Thank you !!
1. Recruiter Screen 2. Technical Screen 3. Onsite - Five rounds - Hiring manager interview - Two technical interviews (leetcode medium-hard with follow up questions) - System Design - Behavioral Interview with another manager I heard back within 3-4 days about passing.
Audible over OCI
Oci biz more stable than audible, less chance of layoff
