Stem opt extension

I am currently on OPT and I have applied for my stem opt extension. However, I am planning to change my company and my new EAD has nit arrived. Can I still change my company or what are the demerits of this. Also, my new company would be applying my H1-B for this year. #h1b

If youโ€™re current opt has expired then you need ead to make a move. Ead generally comes before your opt expires. If you make a move before that arrives just look at the address given for the ead to arrive, it might go to your current employer and you might have to collect it from them.

The HR at the new company would be best to answer this. There shouldn't be any problems as long as you have the receipt notice(with the 180 day rule) + the old initial OPT EAD If you are expecting to receive the EAD soon, maybe just delay the joining

You need to apply for an updated i20 to your college. And then apply for a new EAD card with your new employer. Make sure you update your address at your college's international-students-org within 10 days of moving, if you move

The EAD is not tied to an employer. Just like your student Visa is not tied to an employer. You don't need to apply for a new EAD with the new employer

EAD does not have the employer name on it. But your i20 does. And I just stated what the steps are in this case. e.g. see point 11 here
