Is this even a job? I have seen a lot of TPM's only doing some useless meetings and managing Sprint dashboards. Why is there a need for such a role? Shouldn't the lead or other senior members of the team do it instead?
Haha, i have this theory that all the non sdes wanted to feel useful in the tech company so the HR came up with this completely useless role.
Develops think only they are useful and do most of the heavy lifting lol
Its mostly the ICs that think this way. And as someone above pointed out, its because they’re too junior or silly to see what TPMs do. This thread isnt a genuine question.
OK so we got a bunch of tpms defending tpm in this thread, but no one is going to offer an explanation?
“Too junior” lol my foot is more senior than some clown TPM Get tf out of tech
You’re so mad lmao
If a TPM isn't contributing on tech aspects and product building then he or she is a mere PMO .. also there are way better TPMs who are infact a step ahead of swe or engg managers .. so it depends on individual calibre and the role that the org offers .. overall guess you need to learn more about them..they might be helping with sprints and jira as a additional thing .
I don’t know I always thought they’re some meeting coordinator and from some point, they wanted to have real ownership, leadership, vision, all kinds of crab I hope they go back to meeting assistant or just don’t exist
What do you do by the way? 🤷♀️
Developer
What's your level? I'm assuming junior or non-lead. If all you see is TPMs running sprint boards, you're not senior enough to understand what all a TPM is doing
