in terms of legal, yes. but practically no. you will have to find another sponsorship for your h1b within 1 month, while the unemployment (in case of California) benefit will be paid after 2 weeks of termination date. well.. if you match the timing, you can get the benefit for 2 weeks. I was unemployed for a month when I held H1b, but I didn't get it just in case that could be a problem while I was getting greencard in the future.
