Seeing that the self driving capability is so important to their business, it’d seem to me like they should be paying for the best engineers and scientists. they’re completely irrelevant when it comes to companies swe wanna work for. Nobody talks about them, It’s all about faang and not Tesla. Amazon, Airbnb, Uber everyone pays more than them.
A few years (2019) ago I interviewed a Tesla engineer with 2.5/3 YoE he was making $360k ish, self reported. He worked on self driving.
That’s good right?
That's what I'm thinking lmao 🤣 so I wondering what OP thinks is good
To ensure the employee is willing to work 24/7, as the employee is driven by passion and not money
Very few bought FSD, so dev is cash outflow for now and embedded system still get updates, new games FOR FREE. I wait for that moment when Tesla launch subscription model to sell new updates for all Tesla owners unless they convince owners to buy FSD upgrade.
Because most engineers are not very rational. They still suffer from the "fashion sense" irrationality norm career domains do. So, by being fashionable (prestige, cult of personality), Elon can get top tier engineers without paying market price for them. Blame the engineers, not Tesla. Tesla is doing great, doing things right in getting good talent at discount due to the cult of Elon.
Tesla appreciate key people and hire bunch of contractors to do less complicated job with lower rate.
How irrelevant to what I said, thank you for sharing.
Tesla runs on being based
TSLA is highly volatile with a potential to 5x in the next 4 years (both directions 😀). But like others said people join Tesla for the mission first and money second. Personally, I would join Tesla or SpaceX in a heartbeat regardless of TC. But I’m prone to burnouts under prolonged stress, so it’s not an option for me
You join for the mission, not for money
