Some companies will give you a $9k match while others give $0. It seems this should be in the TC calculations, especially when comparing a startup offer (usually $0 match) vs. FAANG offer.
good point!
I think you can weigh any factors to add to TC- commute, meals/snacks, whatever benefits they offer. I’d only really be concerned with matching on 401k if the comp and other benefits were close; you can only put around 18k in it a year so it’s not gonna be worth as much as that one person’s tea habit 😂
Because it is too small to care in general. 9k is not a big difference in the offers around here
Just like you could also factor out free food, healthcare cost, free gym, free cellphone plan, no need to buy a car because of shuttle or you live close by, ... These are nice to look into, but likely won't make a huge difference in the end.
The match is peanut. What difference it makes?
Because we don't need our minds overloaded with all existing insignificant details. Each company comes with its unique set of perks so comparing across the board will get cumbersome.
Why not include all the perks as TC?
Do the 5 Honest Ts I consume a day count as TC? 5 T/day x 20 days/month x 12 months x $1.50 = $1.8k a year
And lower his TC???
