when rappers rap about running up bands, flexing, cashing out, getting commas, getting more checks than nike, getting racks, running up packs like usain, f***ing up a bag at Gucci, hitting licks, getting more M's than M&Ms, not checking the price when you buy out the store... do you think of yourself, and picture the song is about you with your massive SWE TCs?

I think part of the appeal of rap songs is imagining oneself in the situation, or at least matching the emotional state. They have the amazing ability to boost the emotional state of the listener, getting them amped and ready to go. It's no coincidence that these songs are played in locker rooms and what not before big competitions.
unironically, i listen to rap music (trap, drill) before interviews, and i think it directly affects my performance positively
