This response seems so odd from a company like Google. It’s like the big G is triggered by not having workers in the office. Is it that Googlers can’t be trusted to do their work? Is this a Google Cloud issue? What say y’all? https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/03/31/google-speeds-partial-office-reopening-and-puts-limits-on-remote-work.html
Google is a real estate company now lol.
True.
Yes the largest property owner in the world
OP I see you digging dirt on Google on other posts. What's up with that? Google has never been a remote first company in the first place (pre pandemic) Having said that the article is kinda misleading. We'll most likely be seeing a hybrid 3/2 work model. As much as I'd love to work remotely it's going to be very team specific and I'd love to see what happens next.
Just stating facts. No dirt—just facts.
Then you must also believe that global warming is a myth 😁 Not everything portrayed in media is a fact
im a noogler, joined during covid, i will be seeking outside oppurtunities as i dont wanna to relocate.
Deliverr has perm remote with SF salaries across the country
Thanks for the tip^
Very true. Google is sitting on (owns) a ton of office real estate. Why doesn’t Google turn some of their office space into housing?
I believe the decision about return to work has been based on internal surveys and a response to what employees said they prefer for the overall well-being and productivity
bullshit lol
Not bullshit. I think it's 72% said they'd want at least some kind of workplace hybrid. As a noogler, I can't wait to go in office, see what happens when I don't have to think about making or ordering my own lunch 😂
Google products have had so many issues during the pandemic it’s probably terrified mgmt. There was one day when Gmail just wouldn’t send or receive email.
Well our products have had terrible issues too.
No one uses facebook, ok ?
Lots of Googlers moving to Instacart, Twitter, and other remote friendly companies for a reason ...
Google Cloud will suffer as a result.
Washtub is so blatantly resentful towards goog. Must have not gotten an offer...
The reason they want people back in office is their real estate price will drop if people work remotely
Really you think that's material for a company with 100b revenue.
TIL ads etc. are all just side-projects supported by the core business, a real estate investment empire.
Probably a push to find out who moved out of state so they don’t need to pay them Bay Area salary
Can’t just track them with their work laptop IP?
Impossible to prove the move is permanent based on that alone.
Agree with none of the options. For a company that is famous for manipulating cafe lines to spark conversation you really didn't include WFH's affect on innovation and productivity. I believe that is probably the main reason.
Amazon (AWS especially) is innovating just fine. Google Cloud—not so much.
Amazon isn’t doing WFH long term is it? And GCP is growing faster than AWS, so not sure we can conclude who has won in that space just yet.
