Current role 4YOE @ MSFT. TC 180K FB(E4): TC 280K + 70K signon Pros 1. Prestigious, good to have on resume and all career 2. Good engineering culture Cons 1. Bad WLB, ~55 h per week 2. The 'up or out' culture seems stressful 3. Recent PERM delay (I am still having another 2.5 Y on H1b, so hope this is okay) 4. I learned on blind that there are office politics issue in FB. But I think it should be mostly likely on management and leader team. Hope can have more insights 5. Uncertainty on the team matching (bootcamp) Snap(L4): TC 370K + 0 signon Pros 1. Rapid growth. Good for individual impact. 2. Good 💴 Cons 1. The stock has been 3x last 12 months, i think the value may be overrated somehow 2. Long promotion period (may take 5-6 year) from L4 to L5 3. Learned that the culture and management changed a lot as more Amazon leader/managers come joining last year 4. Uncertainty on the team matching Uber Freight(L4): TC290K + 50K signon Pros 1.Super good team and product. Learned that Uber freight is with security future and good growth right now. Also happy talking with the HM 2. There Uber Freight team size is like 200, so pretty good for individual impact 3. Good WLB, may like 40h per week Cons 1. A little concern about the career growth in Uber 2. Bad culture and management review. seeing some manager lying on review, backstabbing story 3. There are layoff in 2018, and during covid
Well, of course the one with the highest TC will win. What did you even expect to get out of this? Just thinking out loud?
Facebook has stacking refreshers, while Snap does not, so the difference is not as big as it seems.
That’s my point. Most Blinders don’t know shit about these things and will vote for the highest TC option blindly. I did vote for Uber tho.
Details on FB PERM delay?

If you ask on blind, higher TC/pre IPO always wins. If you ask on 1*3*, usually higher level always wins so make your own decision
good summary here
Let me know what you end up taking. I’m really interested because I’m almost in same boat. I’m the person above
Current level?
SDE2
That snap tc is unreal. I have heard about bad wlb at snap.
yeah it is, and it also depends on the team. I am still in team match, but in the conversation with one HM, it looks fine
That’s actually on the lower end tbh. If you perform well and they need you one gets a sign on. Wlb is not good but not as bad as some teams at FB. From what I know most here work between 45-55 hours on average, so whatever you make of it
I like you man 🤣 never a dull moment when you comment!
😂😂
I’m an Uber employee and I voted Uber. Some people don’t love it here but work life balance is really good and my team at least has a great culture of impact/ allowing you to help find impact. That snap tc tho 👀
Are you in uber marketplace?
Wow that's good to know and thank you for sharing. I do have couple call with the uber team members, and some my friends in Uber and I feel the good culture and wlb. Not sure why Uber got really bad review in blind
Can you share how you prepped for interviews?
Yes I am still negotiating. I plan to write things up after that
Is this a negotiated Uber offer? What was the initial?
Initial one is without the sign on
Wow that’s really good. They lowballed me like crazy. Did you provide competing offers before they gave initial numbers?

Fb has good engineering culture?
that's what I learned, ie the engineer have quite a vote to a project, and the project deliver is 'metric oriented' , etc :)
