Tech stack is outdated and overly complex Huge bureaucracy, work more in Google docs than writing code
One year ago Google was unsinkable and Meta had a bleak future. But now it seems to be reversed? ChatGPT and open source alternatives are threatening Google's core product, while Meta still seems to have strong network effects and have dumped the Metaverse. Who is in a better position now?
I’m joining Google very soon as SWE in London. Will I be safe? TC: 160k gbp E5 #google
I noticed some job postings that would be a good fit. I have a connection already and have gone through the product interviews once before and was considered an edge case. I think with more prep and the increased experience I could do better. But I’m concerned that google isn’t done firing people. ...Read more
From another thread I saw someone saying those three companies are safest right now. Currently my wife is working in one of those companies. Just curious… which people think is the one most probable to be laying off next? #google #apple #microsoft
Joining in a few weeks, worried about the layoff. I understand nobody knows for sure, what's your guess based on different factors?
Hi, I wanted to ask about the trust and safety team at Google in various locations. Does it come under G&A ? Is it even possible to fathom a change to Product Management sometime down the line? I currently work as a data scientist, and I wonder if any of my current skills would be used there? Airb...Read more

I’m genuinely confused. So many people I talk to keep saying we’re safe, google doesn’t do layoffs, etc. I just feel like so many are in denial and I don’t understand why. Am I just being pessimistic?
Been PM at Amazon for a year .. generally things going well but interested in applying for some roles at Google due to personal interest in those products Is it worth even trying in this climate of hiring freeze and layoff possibilities everywhere ? Which company is safer in this time?

I am evaluating an L5 SWE offer with an engprod team at google. A friend who works there tells me that this org is at risk of layoffs since they don’t work on customer facing problems. Is this true? (I like the team I have matched with and they have good work) Offered TC: 440k Yoe 12 #google
Just got info from a friend that Amazon is not doing (yet) layoffs in Europe but US, India are being targeted. In other news, my Google recruiter was supposed to setup my onsite interview for Monday but all I get is radio silence. #Layoffs
Has anyone worked in Trust & Safety team at Google? How's the work life balance? Are projects interesting or mundane? How transparent is the leadership within the org? Career growth opportunities? Role interested: Analyst
So… Currently I am working as an Associate Software Engineer (TC 75K) at a company which is pretty slow to promote. I estimate I’d hit Software Engineer status by Summer/Fall 2021 and Senior Engineer status in 2024/2025. Most Senior Engineers at my company currently make around TC 120K-150K. I’ve be...Read more
Hey all, I have a Google swe offer, and am debating if it's worth taking it or not. I'm seeing a lot of posts about new hires being put on SCI to fill up 12-18% quota. Not sure what's true, and what ain't. Currently enjoying my work, but worried about the AV industry / economy in general. Is the c...Read more
In terms of job security Thinking of moving to Google so I can get the ultimate career privilege because Apple is just sooooooooo much behind Google in terms of desirability Tc 300k
Should I switch from a safe job at Amazon to Google? Should I relocate and start at Google? Not sure if I should worry about layoffs at Google? I'm an SWE in a really nice team at Amazon and not worried about job security at all.
