Good to have on your resume for next future jobs
No work life balance, 60+ hours is the expectation for everyone
Does Amazon care about their reputation at all? Their 401k plan sucks balls, the match is embarrassing, the first thing anybody asks me is “do you get prime free” and I get to respond “no because Jeff Bezos is a cheap fuck”, rumor has it they give older employees negative raises if their stock went ...Read more
Why does Amazon get a bad rap around here? Excluding the non-existent perks, I personally haven't had any negative experiences commonly mentioned in other posts (e.g. long working hours, PIP culture, etc). I honestly like my team and I am optimistic about career growth prospects. Did I just get luck...Read more
Amazon has offered me and a couple of people I know a higher TC and a wanted relocation and yet nobody I know took the offer. and everyone I know is now excluding amazon when applying.. did amazon really fuxx up their reputation that much? are they still getting good talents?
Started working with amazon 6 months back and was mentally prepared to have a hectic WLB. Had heard rumours about the “toxic” culture. On the contrary, I have had a good work life balance, have learned a lot and I like the fact that my team and manager have high standards for the products we own. I ...Read more
Is it a bad org? I was laid off from coinbase in November and had to take a job at a crappy startup for $105k tc. Finally got interview from a couple companies, including Amazon last mile. I’m happy to finally get a chance to get paid what I’m worth again, but i heard last mile is one of the worse o...Read more
Which one do you prefer or have more reputation when you have candidates from both Apple and Amazon in interviews? I see most of the folks from Amazon go to Google, Facebook and other top companies, rarely any posts from Apple folks. Amazon has more good engineers than Apple? @google @facebook @ne...Read more
I am now in the middle of aws hiring process and reading about their pip culture (10% have to go each year) I think that's messed up and don't feel like continuing the process as I have never seen this happen at msft. Do you think I'm right?
While looking up Amazon TC posts, I found that it didn't always have the usual "avoid at all costs" stigma. from posts 2018~2020, I noticed that people considered Amazon on par with those that are more sought out currently (e.g. Meta, Google, Apple). What I mean by this is that if Amazon offered sli...Read more
Hi All, how would people rate Amazon vs Bytedance in terms of reputation for a long-term career? No trolling, please :)
Seems like Amazon is a place to be avoided according to all the review sites.
Doesn’t seem very "Biased for Action" that this is going on for this long. It's not a good look at all.
"Strive to be Earth’s Best Employer." The new LP got added yesterday. They already delivered on their mission to be Earth's most customer-centric company. I think they realized they can't continue with their old ways and are making a change to retain the top talent. Would you consider Amazon if yo...Read more
It doesn’t make sense. Amazon has spent decades carefully positioning themselves as the most prestigious FAANG with awesome perks and the best work life balance and now they risk throwing it all away by forcing everyone to move back to one of their hubs or be fired. https://www.businessinsider.com/...Read more
Looking at a role as a product manager there. Does anyone know the reputation of the team? I can't find much online.
What if what blind said on Amazon working culture isn't true and engineers are having great time working there?
Folks of Blind, Thinking of transitioning to Applied Scientist (AS) role (have worked on several ML projects as an engineer, now leading some to production and hopefully will have some scientific impact). I am faced with two options: (1) Transition from engineer into Applied Science and continue b...Read more
Worked there for ~ 3 yrs, and I feel most mgrs (~ 99% of the time) are insecure and ego sensitive. But somehow amazon still beats Google in Cloud and retail business (shopping, smart devices, customer service, etc.) Any thoughts? FYI. I work at LinkedIn. YOE 7. SSE. TC 310K. Bay Area.
Curious how we are perceived outside the company. Have no plans to leave anytime soon (been here 2.5 years and counting) but will probably leave one day.
