Compensation is not bad since the recruiters are so desperate to fill their jobs asap that you can ask for the world without any attention to internal compression.
It’s a dog eat dog world now. No longer is Gap the company that values or supports family or cares about employee engagement, loyalty or tenure. You move up by who you know and how you look. Forget about diversity in the workplace. That’s all lip service. If you’re white and tall, this place is perfect for you.
How is it working out? Do you have trouble finding parking? How do the Google perks fill in the gaps?
So, when you work at Amazon you get 10 percent off, when you work at Gap you get a discount, when you work at a gaming company what do you get? Do you get like rare characters? OR FREE MONEY?? Would love to know what your perks are!
They are all definitely very talented, but the only ones hiring right now are mid size/smaller companies that have different sets of challenges (such as scale) Can someone from big tech adapt to these companies with different culture/perks/needs? If you are from big tech are you going to go to a s...Read more

I'm planning to FIRE. Current NW is 3M, age 35. At 4% withdrawal this would allow yearly spend of 120k. I have an idea to greatly bump this up by working just 1 month a year: Every year, just interview and get a sign on bonus, put it all towards 401k, also get the company to 401k match.
