Tech stack is outdated and overly complex Huge bureaucracy, work more in Google docs than writing code
Does google have a rule that if you don’t get promoted to L5 in 3 years, you can get pipped? Heard similar rule about Meta and hence wondering. Tc: 258k
I know that Google has a hard limit set for number of visitors who are going to eat at the cafe per month but what about if I just want to show people around campus? I don't start with Google until a few weeks but was curious about that. I think the campuses are pretty cool to explore and would be c...Read more
Is the 20% rule real? If so, do you use that perk? If so, how did you use that 20%? Can use use that for “self-education” and side projects, etc? So I interviewed back in July with Google for a PM role. They didn’t move forward with my candidacy post on-site. I was wondering if I can still interview with them again, for a different role aka design role (I have experience in both) this year itself or do I still have to wait for a year?
I thought Google has a long list of things we can’t do outside of work… just stumbled upon this Tiktok page: https://vm.tiktok.com/TTPdjgEXDt/ She’s working at G and making tiktoks about G. How is that allowed? She’s been at G for 3 years. She also charges for mentorship sessions. Or what she shar...Read more
I'm still waiting for the HC decision in my application process, but while doing research, I found some people not being that happy as Google TSE (Technical Solutions Engineer). Hi there! How does base/total comp matching works when you change countries/offices inside Google? Is it negotiable? Is it a function of your current base?
Maybe this is already discussed, but I still don’t know what’s the hiring rule? I can assume two ways: 1. Calculate average. Say 4 round coding, no hire=1, weak hire=2, hire=3, strong hire =4, then calculate average where >; 2.5 go to HC 2. Heuristic way: if there’s one no-hire, directly rej; if
I live 90 miles from Atlanta, talking to recruiter about remote role, trying to make the case that I should be considered Atlanta (more comp!). Lots of companies use that rule, just wondering if Google does the same or if this is going to create issues for me.
Finally! https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-05-05/google-relaxes-work-from-home-rules-to-let-more-staff-be-remote
For going remote at Google I was told you need 1 year of work experience or 2 years of work experience at YouTube. Is it possible for Google to make an exception if you have a personal reason you can't relocate? TC: 200k YOE: 1
I've been an off-and-on contributor and blogger. Most of my articles have been around a difficult bug I solved at work, or some nuggets of knowledge that came out of them. I also have some open-source projects to showcase my skills. I've accepted an offer from Google, and want to understand how thi...Read more
