I see Google is hiring some SWE and ML/AI engineers. What is the hiring bar looking like these days?
My friend got laid off in November, rejected from all the interviews, but cracked Google after a few months. People who had the recent experience of Google Interview, how is the bar now? Definitely, it's not gonna be like the last year I know.

Blind had me believe that Google has very high bar for promos and hiring. Looking at dozens of laid off posts from Google it seems everyone was promoted regularly like at government organization and yet got laid off. Is Google really a difficult place to get promoted at by merit alone?
